Lina González-Granados conducts the Civic Orchestra in Sheherazade
Featured Videos • 12m
To continue our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor Colombian American conductor Lina González-Granados, who made her Civic debut in February 2022 at Kenwood Academy High School conducting the orchestra in Rimsky- Korsakov’s Sheherazade and Gabriela Lena Frank’s Three Latin American Dances.
Dedicated to nurturing young talent, González-Granados conducted the 2022 Chicago Youth in Music Festival Orchestra in rehearsals, preparing high school students from around the country to perform on stage at Symphony Center with CSO Zell Music Director Riccardo Muti.
Perhaps most historically, González-Granados became the first female Latin-American conductor to lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, stepping in for Maestro Muti twice in the spring of 2022 to great critical acclaim.
We are honored to have worked with Lina last season and wish her all the best as she embarks on another year as Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra!
